Understanding of the World

Rabbits enjoyed a wonderful, sunny trip to Croft Castle, to help consolidate their local history learning. The children have been learning about the War of the Roses, and the Battle of Mortimers Cross in school, so were beyond excited to visit one of the places that this took place.
To start the day, the children enjoyed a guided tour of the castle where they saw lots of interesting artefacts, and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions to deepen their understanding. They then visited the church and saw the grave of Sir Richard Croft and his wife Eleanor.
In the afternoon, the children enjoyed their picnic lunches in the glorious sunshine, and had lots of fun in the castle park (adults too)! They then explored the woodlands and parklands further, whilst talking about where the battle may have taken place, and even found a fun, natural play area.
All of the adults were incredibly proud of the impeccable behaviour that the children showed throughout the day, and were blown away by the fantastic questions that they asked.

Maths Rockstars

Within our maths lessons this year, we have all been enjoying practising our mulitplication and times tables through a range of songs, and games. To support this, on Thursday 13th February, our whole school became rockstars; as part of our times tables rockstar learning!

Year 2 enjoyed their TT Rockstar battles online, whilst Year 1 and Reception did many counting games and songs (whilst dancing like rockstars).

Our favourite counting songs this term are;

Counting by 2's

Counting by 5's

Counting by 10's

Counting by 3's

People and communities

To support their learning about other's around them, the children in Rabbits were visited by Leanne and her guide dog Noah from The Royal National College for the blind.

The children had the opportunity to watch Noah at work and then ask Leanne any questions they had.  All of the children enjoyed meeting Noah and really impressed the adults with their meaningful questions and the kindness and sensitivity that they showed.
